Governor’s Safety Award 

We have just been awarded a 2008 Meritorious Achievement Award for excellence in workplace safety and health. This award is part of the Governor’s Safety Awards program, which is administered by the Minnesota Safety Council, and recognizes companies with better than average performance in incident rates, dependent on type of industry. The award will be presented at the 74th Minnesota Safety & Health Conference in May.

Advance Corporation wins Gold and Silver at this year’s PPAI Awards Banquet 

Advance Corporation was proud to accept two Supplier Golden Achievement Awards at the 2008 PPAI Awards Banquet.  The Gold Award and Silver Award added onto the previous years gives Advance Corporation 68 Winners since the competition’s inception.   This year the following two awards were winners:

Laser Engraving on any Surface

The final piece is created from a computer-driven CO2 laser engraving process.  The artwork for the plaque is scanned into a computer and converted to grayscale.  As the laser beam travels across the wood, it fires an engraving laser in response to the various shades of gray in the artwork; the darker the tone, the deeper the engraving.  This allows for extremely intricate detail and incredibly subtle shadings.  The finished piece is an impressive combination of craftsmanship and technology.

Etching-Engraving

This chemically etched zinc plate  features different textures and employs a variety of etching styles. The background area, with a random, multi-depth appearance, was achieved through a double-etching process.  The floral areas required a special screen filter and a special effects dot pattern to create the raised surface effect.  Throughout, a precise, fine depth of etch had to be maintained to preserve the remarkable detail.  Most  intriguing are the subtle, raised copy colors that accentuate the flowers and leaves. The result is a unique plaque, one that conveys strength, yet, at the same time, has a peaceful and delicate nature.
